On the afternoon of June 28th, as the "one-to-one" cooperation project negotiating university in the education sector of the 2022 China Langfang Economic and Trade Fair in Hebei Province, our university and the University of Leeds successfully held an online signing ceremony for the agreement on the joint training project for students majoring in basic medicine. Vice President Wu Yuming, Member of the Party Standing Committee, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Hai-Sui Yu of the University of Leeds, and heads of relevant departments of the two universities attended the signing ceremony.
At the meeting, Prof. Wu and Prof. Yu delivered speeches respectively. First of all, Prof. Wu made a brief introduction of our university, reviewed the cooperation history between the two universities and fruitful cooperation achievements since 2010. She pointed out that the official cooperation with the University of Leeds, which is known as the "Red Brick University" in the UK, will be a significant milestone in the history of international exchanges of the our university. She sincerely hopes that based on years of scientific research cooperation, the two sides will take the signing of this Agreement as an opportunity to further strengthen the training of international medical talents in the medical field, enhance scientific research cooperation and cultural exchanges, and continuously produce high-level cooperation results, so as to make our contributions to jointly promoting the development of China-UK medical education and medical and health undertakings, and promoting the health and well-being of the two countries.
Prof. Yu affirmed the achievements made by the two sides in the scientific research cooperation in the biomedical field for more than ten years, and praised the two sides for further developing the joint student training program on this basis. Subsequently, Prof. Yu introduced the history, scale, discipline characteristics of University of Leeds and the progress made in international exchanges in recent years. He hoped that the two sides would take the signing of this cooperation agreement as an opportunity to deepen and broaden cooperation fields and strive to produce more fruits in medicine, public health and other fields.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between the two universities is an important outcome of the 2022 China Langfang International Economic and Trade Fair. After the signing of the agreement, outstanding graduates from our university majoring in basic medicine will have the opportunity to study for a master's degree at the University of Leeds, which will enable them to learn from Leeds' advanced educational concepts, professional courses, teaching methods, and expand their international horizon, and also play an important role as a bridge and link to further promote the cultural and mutual learning between the two universities.
