Hebei Medical University Nursing College

Hebei Medical University Nursing College was established in 2000. It was formerly known as the Nursing School of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hebei Medical University, which was the earliest school to train nursing students in Hebei Province. It began to recruit nursing undergraduates in 1999 and was approved to confer Master's degree in nursing in 2003. It passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education in 2005 and was granted to confer Master’s degree in nursing as the first-level discipline in 2011.By now, the complete medical education system has been developed to cultivate postgraduate, undergraduate and junior college students. In 2017, the specialty of midwifery was set up. Now there are the departments of nursing and midwifery, with more than 1,900 students at school. Taking “benevolence, harmony and truth” as the college motto, the nursing college is dedicated to cultivating highly competent and practical talents with a solid theoretical foundation, superb nursing skills and generous humanistic feelings

The faculty structure of the Nursing College is reasonable. There are 22 full-time teachers, five of them with senior professional title, 10 with doctorate degree or being doctoral candidates. There is one provincial teaching master specialized in traditional Chinese medicine and also 28 master supervisors. There is Basic Nursing Teaching and Research Section, Clinical Nursing Teaching and Research Section, Humanistic Nursing Teaching and Research Section and Nursing Research and Training Center, covering 17 professional training rooms, such as basic nursing, ICU, geriatric nursing, rehabilitation nursing, midwifery, neonatal nursing, etc., meeting the needs of teaching practice and scientific research. There are teaching staff coming from five hospitals directly under Hebei Medical University, six affiliated hospitals, six nursing institutions and seven community health centers, forming a "big nursing" system, which integrates nursing, teaching and scientific research.

The Nursing College is the executive director unit of the Nursing Education Branch of the National Institute of Higher Medical Education, the key research base for humanities and social sciences in Hebei colleges and universities, the training center for teachers in Hebei Province, the member of the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Innovation Alliance, and a legal entity unit of Hebei Nursing Association. In the past five years, there has been a total of 96 scientific research projects above the municipal level. 186 academic papers have been published, 29 of which are included in the SCI. There are also 25 monographs and 2 Provincial Online Quality Courses.                            

The nursing college attaches importance to expanding and deepening foreign exchanges and cooperation. From 1997, more than 600 students have been selected and recommended for the Full Scholarship Programs of the Nanyang Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore, laying a solid foundation for academic exchanges between the two countries. In recent years, cooperation and exchanges with the US, Australia, Japan, the UK and other countries have been continuously strengthened, making a further promotion in the professional and disciplinary development.

The college will take the opportunity of coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and the construction of Xiongan New Area, adhere to the philosophy of student-centered, teacher-oriented, and focus on the overall development plan of "Healthy China 2030". There is a need to make a reasonable allocation of the enrollment amount, make proper adjustment to the training orientation, gradually improve institutional functions and constantly strengthen the policy guidance, talent introduction as well as teaching staff construction. It is also necessary to strive to create and maintain a good environment for professional talent cultivation, continuously improve the quality of teaching and training, and constantly develop talent training models to meet the needs of economic and social development and people’s requirements on health.
